Hardware Engineer Fremont, CA

Job Description:

Themis Computer is seeking multiple Hardware Engineers to work in a team on leading edge digital computer board designs. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to work on a diverse range of products, from rugged credit card sized embedded computers to enterprise-class servers, targeted for industrial and military applications.

  • Schematic board level design including:
  • Intel/AMD x86, Arm, SoC, Microcontroller
  • Point of load and front end power supply
  • Ethernet switches and NICs
  • PCIe, USB, SAS, SATA, Ethernet (copper, QSGMII, etc.), HDMI, DisplayPort, I2C, Serial Interfaces
  • High-speed memory interfaces (e.g. DDR4)
  • Low jitter clocks
  • SERDES at >10Gb/s
  • CPLD and FPGA
  • Commercial and rugged connector pinout definition
  • Design for extended temperature operation
  • Interpret Design Requirements, write Functional and Design Specifications
  • Component selection, datasheet interpretation, part request and symbol creation
  • EMC and EMI compliance
  • Define cable specifications
  • PLD HDL and simulation
  • PCB layout and route requirements
  • Integrate design with other boards and other departments to meet product goals
  • Test Plans, prototype bring up and Design Verification Testing
  • Transition to manufacturing
  • Participate in system and peer design reviews
  • Support New Product Introduction
  • Work in a small team environment


  • 6+ years of experience in board level digital hardware design
  • Strong written and verbal skills
  • Proven experience in high speed and complex designs
  • Experience in PLD HDL and simulation
  • Good understanding of product development lifecycle
  • Detail oriented and self-motivated with a passion for electronics and skill improvement
  • Expertise in creative problem solving and hardware debug
  • Good time management
  • Test equipment experience
  • Scripting (Python, etc.) for board bring up/test and design automation improvements
  • Microsoft Office skills, including Word, Excel, Visio


  • Bachelor or Master of Science in Electronic Engineering or Computer Engineering

Bonus Skills:

  • Orcad/Allegro experience
  • Microcontroller or SoC C programming
  • Complex FPGA HDL design and simulation
  • Subcontractor management
  • EMI lab work
